Tattoo Upbringing:
I started tattooing circa May 2012...on my own. Not my brightest choice, but “you can’t unring the bell”. I committed, and rode it out as long as possible. I’m not particularly proud of my decision in hindsight; but I chose it, and it made me the tattooer I am. So, no regrets. About a year later I realized it was time to make a change, and find myself work at an actual tattoo shop.Enter, Black Rose Tattooers.
By the fall of 2013 I found myself making my first, legitimate, income as a tattooer and I haven’t looked back since! (Let me tell you, quitting my retail job was SUPER satisfying!). Mac, and the crew at Black Rose, taught me much about how to be successful in this craft. Working downtown also provided the experience of working with a multitude of types of people.
7 years later I found myself chomping at the bit to have a space of my own. I’d been dreaming about this for years and it has finally come to fruition! Evil Eye Tattoo is a place where you can come in, relax, be your-damn-self, and get some sick ink!
A little about me:
Tattooing is more than just a job for me, it has become my way of life. The process is magic, and the effects are long lasting, beyond just the superficial marks on your skin.Tattoo is a rite of passage-it teaches us a lot about ourselves, how much we can take...and what we cannot. It’s an awe-inspiring craft that i am eternally honored to participate in.
Now this doesn’t mean I don’t have fun, besides-that’s what this experience should be! Bring on the weird, the fantastic, the funny, the absurd, and DEFINITELY the nerdy. I’m here for it!
Respecting your time is one of my top priorities. Please don’t hesitate being direct with me. If you don’t like something you see, let’s talk about it! Criticism and discussion is welcome if you feel like I’m just not hitting the mark. If it becomes apparent that we may not be a good match, I’m happy to refer you if I can.
If you present an idea that I feel is not going to be successful, I’m going to say so. This isn’t personal, this is part of my job. You deserve to have a tattoo that you will enjoy and be proud of for the long run. Understand that I don’t get pleasure from, or make money by, telling people “no”. I value honesty. If I criticize your concept, it is done from a perspective of looking out for you as my client. It never comes from a place of judgement or disrespect.
With so many styles and so much creativity out there, I’m always excited to see what y’all have in store for me! I typically work in an illustrative, neo-traditional style if left to my own devices. Along with a particular soft spot for Japanese style design. However, I’m more than happy to deviate from my usual approach!
Booking an appointment requires a deposit and a consultation. If you’re in town I highly recommend and “in person” consultation, however if you live far this can be conducted via email.Consultations are available everyday except Thursday between the hours of 8am-10am. 7. Finally, not a rule-but just to make it clear. This is my career; it’s NOT my “side-gig”; I’m setting aside time just for you, and forgoing others’ requests for time. Please reciprocate the respect that I’m giving you and my other clients.
